A swiss success story - since 1967
1967
In 1967 Kurt Müller founded a mechanical workshop under the name of Kurt Müller Feinmechanik at Rüttenenstrasse 16 in Langendorf, Switzerland. To start with commissioned orders were carried out in the areas of milling, turning, drilling, brazing and assembly work. Small tool grinding machines were mounted and partly manufactured for one customer.
1975
By 1975 this workshop was too small which was the reason for moving to a larger building at 24a Rüttenenstrasse. Already in 1975 at the request of a customer an ultra-low pressure compressed air motor was developed and built with the required additional devices for medical technology.
1980
The CNC era began in 1980. First a turning machine, then a year later a CNC machining centre. These machines opened up whole new horizons in production. Then orders came from new sectors such as aviation and aerospace technology.
1988
Through the new customer sectors the space again became too small and the decision was made to construct a new building, which was acquired in 1988 at Allemendstrasse 4 in Bellach.
1993
In 1993 the sole trader Kurt Müller became KMB Feinmechanik AG (a public limited company). The share of commissioned work continually dropped off and the medical technology branch, especially motor systems in the high-speed range rapidly built up. The size of the company which had been reached by then, and the related increased organisational and planning tasks, placed continuously high demands on the management. Also increasing steadily were customer requirements in the areas of documentation and traceability.
2004
This prompted us to rework the existing management system, introduce a replacement and in 2004 to be certified in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 in order to also be able to grow in future in line with the growing requirements.
2006
In 2006 with the resignation of company founder Kurt Müller the merger took place between KMB Feinmechanik AG and Rotomed AG along with the simultaneous name change to Rotomed AG.
Sons Daniel and Thomas Müller, who took over from company founder Kurt Müller, have been active in the company since 1988 and 1991, and were interested in sustainable expansion along with their families.
2016
Additionally Eveline Müller joined as a member of the board as co-proprietor in 2016 after 20 years of collaboration.
From January 2016 to the end of February 2017 we constructed a new building on the east side of our current company building in Bellach. Our aim was one of creating the corresponding infrastructure for the latest medical technology requirements in relation to cleanliness and hygiene. Additionally we are streamlining our production process in order to assist our customers as an optimum partner in the implementation of more complex tasks. Immediately following the move to the new build by our CNC manufacturing, AVOR/PPS/Q/Purchasing, Administration and GL the building, which was constructed in 1988, has undergone extensive renovations in order to also create the same conditions in this existing part of the business as in the new build.
2017
We managed to complete the move to the renovated facilities on 24th February 2017. Since this time our assembly and repair teams have been situated together at the same site in Bellach, along with the development department. The external site at Bettlach, which we obtained in January 2011 will now be sold off.
2020
In order to be able to meet the constantly increasing requirements in the quality inspection of our products, a 3D measuring machine including modern software was purchased.
2021
Our tolerances to be maintained require a balanced room climate. To be able to meet these requirements, an air conditioning system was procured and installed for all areas.
To provide the regulatory base for our customers who are active in the US market, we decided to register the company with the FDA.
2022
Mr Thomas Müller has left the company after many years of service as a member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Board. The company is fully owned by the family of Daniel and Eveline Müller.
Successful ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 recertification by SGS.
